I have time. I know I still have time. 35 days, to be exact. I have not gone shopping for all my needed supplies, and I have not even cracked open my Greek language learning kit. I have not said goodbye to friends or family, and I have not even been home since June 30. Heck, I don’t even have my Greek visa yet!

Which is where my story begins. I know some have already bid America farewell and that compared to most other study abroad programs, I leave fairly late. Still, I feel like my adventure has already begun, if only in the level of stress I have been feeling about the whole ordeal. I had been told that obtaining a Greek visa would be one of the more trying parts of my study abroad experience, and I admit, I somewhat disregarded these warnings, figuring that I was a pretty proactive individual and that procrastinating on getting it taken care of would be the least of my worries.

It wasn’t my procrastination I needed to worry about. It was theirs.

To make a long story short (I’m already treading that fine line, aren’t I?), because I need to apply for a visa at the Los Angeles Greek Consulate as soon as possible and in person, I will be flying down to Ontario airport (Hi CMC!) next Friday at seven in the morning. It’s a quick trip to L.A. with my father and then back on a plane around five in the afternoon.

Compared to all the hassle and frustration this whole visa process has caused me, adjusting to life in a foreign country surrounded by a completely foreign language should be no trouble at all.

More to come as the date of flight, September 5, draws near…

I wish I could put my life to music and create my own soundtrack.

Luckily, in the blogosphere, I can do that!
